FAQ
The FAQ is questions I have been asked while at markets and events. Also questions sent via FB or email.
Why mustards?
When I started my business, I was and still am inspired by my wife and friends who all battle with food allergies or react badly to preservatives in the food. I wanted to create something full of flavor but without preservatives. In the beginning, I made various flavored humus, pesto’s, caramel sauce and other deli products. At the markets, everyone loved them and I sold well but it simply did not make it in to shops due to the short shelf life.
After about a year and a half, I got onto my knees and prayed. I asked God for a product I can make with a long shelf life and no preservatives. Took me two weeks to get my answer. I had to make mustard using mustard seeds.
Long story short, my wife hated the idea until she did research on mustard seeds and found all the health benefits in a mustard seed. She said lets go for it and we made our first two products, the Honey Mustard and Beer Mustard. 9 1/2 years later, we have developed approximately 42 different flavors. All were great, they just sold slowly so we had to drop them. The flavors found in our online shop today are all our top sellers.

What is the shelf life of mustards
To cover ourselves we usually give it a year but looked after well, it can easily exceed a year. The thing is, mustard seeds are antibacterial and antifungul which means they protect themselves. In other words, the mustard seeds are the preservative. I work carefully in making mustards to keep as many of the health benefits active as possible. To much heat kills all the goodness.
What must I do to make sure my mustard lasts?
Keep it on a shelf in your pantry until you need it. Don’t place it close to a heat source or in bright light for long periods of time. The turmeric used in the mustard reacts to the heat or bright light and fades in color until it is a creamy color. Nothing wrong with the product, flavor is still there, it just does not look right.
Once opened, place it in the fridge.
